Mother of Satan, Exploding Whales, Lawns, Snark

..triacetone triperoxide (TATP)..TATP is one of the most sensitive explosives known, being extremely sensitive to impact, temperature change and friction...The explosion of TATP involves entropy burst, which is the result of formation of one ozone and three acetone molecules from every molecule of TATP in the solid state. Just a few hundred grams of the material produce hundreds of litres of gas..TATP can be easily prepared ..using commercially available ..acetone, hydrogen peroxide.. sulfuric acid..Richard Reid's shoe had 8 or 10 ounces of triacetone triperoxide and PETN...many nitrogen-based detection devices fail to detect explosives such as ANFO ..and .. (TATP)..
For its instability, it has been called the "Mother of Satan" .. cannot be detected by bomb-sniffing dogs,
..the work done by the detonation of TATP is about 80 per cent that of TNT, its detonation velocity being about 5250 m/s.
The NYPD now report that the explosive used in London was a different triperoxide, HMTD,
..penthrite, a World War I-era explosive ..
"They love it," Brower said of the whaling captains. "It's four times the strength of black powder. With black powder, the meat [Bowhead] has a gas taste."
world-scienceThe NF1 mutation creates hyperactive Ras molecules..disrupts cellular conversation and undermines the learning process.
..Statins, which lower cholesterol in the blood, blocking the effects of certain fats.
Because Ras requires fat to function, less fat results in less Ras, ..
..mice bred with the NF1 mutation. They displayed the same symptoms as people with NF1: attention deficits, learning problems and poor coordination.
The NF1 mice on statins showed a 30 percent improvement in their ability to pay attention, outperforming normal mice, ..also beat normal mice on a maze test.

... satellite-based estimate, lawns constitute the largest
area of irrigated crops in America.
..Milesi..I estimate there are three times more acres of lawns in the U.S. than irrigated corn..128,000 km²
..water use for lawns would be 695 to 900 liter per person per day if all lawns were well-watered.
[carbon sink if clippings left]..growth boost provided by the recycling of nitrogen from the decomposing grass clippings more than makes up for the carbon being released.

Juba,Bunsen burners,Chavez

Juba"What has been taken in blood cannot be regained except by blood". Baghdad Sniper .."Juba's" existence, however, is not proven. He may not exist, or he could be a combination of many different insurgents...
He is an accurate sniper, having killed and wounded up to several dozen US soldiers. He fires only once..
He waits for soldiers to dismount, or stand up in a Humvee turret, and aims for gaps in their body armour, the lower spine, ribs or above the chest. He has killed from 200 metres away. "It was the perfect shot," the battalion commander, Lt Col Kevin Farrell, said of one incident - "Blew out the spine."

axisoflogicbNone of these media focused on the content of Chavez' speech or of the transparent unity sweeping across the continent of South America which has grave implications for the economy, foreign policy and stature of the United States. If Chavez' powerful speech, the refrain of the crowds and the protests against Bush could be summed up in a phrase, it would be this:
"The dynamic unification of South America S. the U.S. Government and the Global Corporate Empire".
In their attempts to discredit the spread of the Bolivarian revolution and to undermine the unification of South America, the capitalist media are preaching to their own choir. The Latin American people have been living with the resulting poverty of U.S. exploitation and depredations for a long time. At long last, they appear to be coming together in numbers and power with which to be reckoned - led by individuals of their choosing - rather than Latin American politicians owned and operated by Washington. ...

Last night on SBS TV, John Saffron, a rather funny Jew comedian, in his new late-night comedy show dedicated to religion, made a couple of gross attacks against Islam.
I guess in a short program you cant attack every religion equally , but the attacks seemed somewhat gross, indeed unfunny.
Is this a good time to be attacking Islam? I feel the same about "AliG" comic, another Jew, who a couple of years ago was all over TV, quite funny, but viewed from another angle, a demeaning parody of "immigrant" ie non-white youth.

Denmarks royalty is parading in Australia, indeed their son has an Aus wife. Perhaps they might attend to the State of Denmark:
Rosenhøj Mall has several nights in a row been the scene of the worst riots in Århus for years.
... He calls himself 100 percent Palestinian, born in a refugee camp in Lebanon 19 years ago, and now out of work in Denmark... stay away. This is our area. We decide what goes down here...
[right wing, racist, anti-Islam bloggers are today the most interesting on the Euro-riots, with the obvious proviso that rightists are always certain they are right. There anti-reflective rigidity can never understand or cooperate or improve, merely rant and hurl invective. When kerosine bombs (only idiots put petrol in bottles) are flying, expect invective.]
October 732, the Moorish general Abd al-Rahman and his Muslim army were not exactly at the gates of Paris, but they were within 200 miles, just south of the great Frankish shrine of St. Martin of Tours. Somewhere on the road between Poitiers and Tours, they met a Frankish force and, unlike other Christian armies in Europe, this one held its ground ''like a wall . . . a firm glacial mass,'' as the Chronicle of Isidore puts it. A week later, Abd al-Rahman was dead, the Muslims were heading south, and the French general, Charles, had earned himself the surname ''Martel'' -- or ''the Hammer.'

15-year-old Banou from Mali and his 17-year-old Tunisian friend, Ziad. They were electrocuted to death. A third boy survived but was seriously injured. A rumor that the police had driven the two boys to their deaths quickly began to spread.

cell-phone text messages to coordinate their incendiary flash-mobs,
in Clichy-sous-Bois, where it all began, calm was restored after the fourth night by young men from the local mosque. The government was thankful and hopes similar measures can work elsewhere. Some analysts are wary. Calling on mosques to restore order "validates the postulate that Islam is the answer to everything," says Dounia Bouzar,... Yet without the mosque, it would seem, the only option for the people along allee Albert Camus is what the author of "The Stranger" called "the tender indifference of the world."

Cars that ate Paris

Riots in NSE & West of France & now in central Paris
Radio this am said 13000 cars burned
says "According to the police intelligence service, a total of 28,000 cars were burnt across the country this year - even before the latest outbreak" quelle stink!

Cars burn well. Thats the only thing they're good for. As Ivan Illich said in the 70's, any road vehicle that goes faster than 30kph makes convivial society impossible.
(- thats convivial as in living together)
Sadly the thrill of speed is irresistable. I would own a car if I wasnt too lazy to earn the $, and I bet the Youthcar burners in France would all love to have a hot ride.

I dont know why the nytimes is bent on downplaying the riots..
StatePower appear conflicted - one one hand, any means to fill the populace with fear is handy for retaining power, but on the other, too much publicity for rioters can spread the flames
"while hundreds (sic) of cars and buses have been burned and dozens of businesses destroyed in violence that has spread to a dozen towns, most rioters appear to be teenage boys bent more on making the news than making a coherent political statement"

Meanwhile in Aus, the right to unions, &the right to strike are to be taken away with no parliamentary debate. Secret detention and the Military use of lethal force on the streets are similarly to be rushed through with no debate.
