NYT says " U.S. Soldiers Allegedly Burn 2 Dead Taliban" (buried under a Pakistan story!)
..well I saw the footage (Dateline on SBS strikes again!) and the NYT syntax is garbled
There was no "alleged" about the burning.
You might say Alleged US Soldiers or Alleged Taliban, but the flames were sure as hell real...

mirror-worldwhen I read that US troops are blowing up important infrastructure, bridges across the Euphrates, to deny them to the enemy I know that the colaition cannot win this war in Iraq.
mother'n'fuckersWe know the three bridges in and around Haditha have been severed, as well as the bridges out west in Ubaydi. The likelihood is the crossings at Khan al Baghdadi and Hit have been disabled as well... The Coalition now effectively controls [sic] traffic across the Euphrates River...
October 06 2005 at 09:58AM Baghdad - US-led forces have bombed eight bridges on the Euphrates River in western Iraq to stop insurgents using them, US military spokesperson Major General Rick Lynch said Thursday.
Oil exports from Iraq have been completely halted by a combination of attacks and bad weather, reports say.
Four sabotage attacks brought exports from Northern Iraq to a halt on Sunday and officials warned the damage may take a month to repair. The problem worsened on Monday when a pipeline carrying crude to the Turkish port of Ceyhan was hit in an attack.Meanwhile, bad weather has prevented tankers from loading at terminals in the south, Agence France-Presse said.
As for combatting the Taliban, we should stop pretending that is what the Americans are doing. When the deputy governor under the Taliban who oversaw the blowing up of the Buddhas of Bamiyan is sitting in the new parliament, it is hard to see how the large US troop presence even matters any more.

John Bolton, a severe critic of the UN and a figure so controversial he could not face a confirmation hearing in the Senate, was one of the administration officials who took time to visit Miller in jail.
