Sunday, the Newtown festivus,
Goths hot in black, dog races, White girls trying to rap.
I counted 3 Socialist tables (the Abercrombie Resistance not included)
Oddly reassuring,things haven't changed in 40 years - a lot of Socialists,still factionalised
Nowhere to show my Newtown pics,
so I took the 2 snaps of "The old Fishshop cafe" to the cafe itself.
They dont have much wall space, but the waiter took both with some enthusiasm.
Saturday to Bondi for "Sculpture by the sea" The walk is still a wonder.
All Whales already passed South I guess.
Nothing as exciting as the first couple of years,
when the clifftop path art idea was new.
One artist had got hold of a Tank {from the army?}
and turned it into a caravan, you kind of had to be there.
None of my sculpture pics are much good, (none blogged so far)
I was put off by the hundreds of people digital snapping.
I used to walk those cliff paths in 89,
would meet 5 or 6 people in a morning.
Asawa has a new project - to build a house
down in Bagong Silang ("Newtown") Phase 9
The whole thing will go up for about $1K
"hollow block, Iron.
(labour is $6 per day)
The tricky bit is to get piped water
- you have to join some sort of Block association.
I guess getting an electric meter will be tricky.
The land is apparently owned by a sister.
I can imagine the day when family feuds
drive us out, so may not be a good investment.
but is a great fun project.
