WWF "living planet report" 2006 -I believe this is terribly important. Yet I have little patience with their single indicator "footprint" which they say is now 1.2 times the actual earth's area.
A quick eyeball of their report, and I couldnt make much sense of their 'footprint'
If a passionate data freak like me gets turned off, I can guess that most other people are also.
I believe that agricultural land is being degraded, fish are being depleted, water is becoming scarce. But the usefulness of a single number to indicate this seems weak.
The simple reaction to "1.2" might be "well were still here at 1.2, lets try for 2.2"
